Pumpkins in the Desert

We went on a field trip with the kids yesterday to a farm in another town that lets you pick your own pumpkins! (The kids were on their fall break this week.) For my desert dwelling children, this was an experience! To see all these pumpkins (and there are more fields than just this) growing in the desert is a sight! And I did do a little knitting in the car -- finished the headband (whew! finally) and worked on my Ski Lodge Scoop!

Was that B******* Farms? I love that place! We wanted to go this year but aren't going to get down there enough. I used to work at the school near there years ago and have gone every year since - except this year. (I think it has been 13 years!) We are searching for something up here.

Very cool. I'm trying to decide if there is enough sunlight hitting the undergrowth in the forest behind us to plant some watermelon and some pumpkin next year. So much better then looking at weeds.
