There's been a lot of writing going on out there in blogland about summer knitting to-do lists and whatnot, how about some summer reading lists?
I can recommend what's on my list (see sidebar) and how about a few additional (I'm going to try and read these too).
I can recommend what's on my list (see sidebar) and how about a few additional (I'm going to try and read these too).
Listed in no particular order:
- Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
- all previous six Harry Potter books
- the DaVinci Code by Dan Brown
- More Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch (I know a knitting book, but I like to read them before I plan any projects)
- Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis
I'll probably have to add more later when my brain clears up in the morning.
Feel free to add any recommendations.
Oh, and by the way, I did turn the heel (why do I always spell hell when I try to write heel?) on the cable and rib sock(the one in the middle of the pictures) and am doing the gusset. I'll try them on again when I get a little further into the instep and see if they're still too tight (I'm hoping it was just because of the dp's and I didn't want to loose any stitches off the ends).

About a month ago, I started rereading the HP books. I'm half way through book 5 now. I can't wait for the last book!
I haven't thought past HP right now but I'd really like a good long novel. I was thinking maybe The Historian. I haven't read The Kite Runner either.
One of my favorite books is East of Eden. Have you read that?
That's a really interesting reading list! I'm quite curious to see what you think of the Da Vinci Code - I was a tad disappointed by it, it was so predictable and... well... just didn't live up to my expectations. But then again, I might not have been in the perfect mood to read that book when I did it?
For my summer reading list, I added quite a lot of contemporary literature, mostly from the 60s-era - pretty tough to read usually as authors back then seemed to have been a bit blown away, but I guess there should be some gems among them!
Reading and knitting...it dosen't get better than that! Well I think maybe you spell it hell because turning a heel is often hell! I like your reading list..you may want to try the Mitford series by Jan Karon. Very soothing and full of the best of people.
I'd recommend The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. One of the best books I've ever read I'd say. Intense, if you don't mind that, and good!
I'm looking for another good book now. I've got several knitting books on loan from the library which I'm loving perusing. Want another good read.
I liked the first 5 HP books. Got part way into the 6th though, and it started feeling a little too dark for me. I haven't felt like picking it up since then. I really liked the fun and magical stuff, but the more dark and evil things have gotten with voldemort, etc, them more i've not really wanted to keep going with it. Maybe sometime. Just not yet.
I got some tofutsies recnetly that I've been debating doing the Monkey socks with. Love seeing what everyone else is using for them!
